It's looking GOOD in Heywood North!10.45.44pm BST (GMT +0100) Tue 15th May 2007
It's been a bit of culture shock for me the past few weeks - but the whirlwind of meetings, meetings, meetings has been a huge culture shock. I've had many messages of support since joining Peter on the Council. Firstly a few thank you's - first my fiance Austin who delivered countless leaflets in Heywood on my behalf. To David and James in the office, they were brilliant. Really professional and they put up with me and I can't continue without mentioning Councillor Peter Rush - my new colleague. What a character! Finally, to all the voters in Heywood - it will be a pleasure to represent you. I am now the Secretary of the Lib Dem Group - my main aims will be to represent the people of Heywood SEVEN days a week. This is an exciting time for Heywood - and I am pleased to representing you. Will continue apace with our campaign on CRIME. It is vital that we get more police on our streets, have an 01706 number when contacting them, longer opening hours at our Police Station and much more! We must step up the fight to retain vital maternity and childcare services at Fairfield and that we improve our education through the new school in Heywood. We will pushing for a centrally located school to give it the best possible chance. I will fight, not against the opposition, but for Heywood! Councillor Doreen Brophy-Lee (Heywood North)
