Liberal Democrat Transport Minister Baroness Kramer has today (November 18) announced that all of the stations on the Crossrail project will have step free access.

The facilities will be enabled through £14m of investment and will make it easier for passengers to board and alight trains once the services begin in 2019.

Commenting, Baroness Susan Kramer said:

"I am delighted to confirm the funding of these important accessibility improvements. This is another example of our commitment to build a world-class rail network that is open to all. It is only right that everyone should be able to enjoy the huge benefits that Crossrail will bring.

"Crossrail will transform travel across London and the South East, and is already creating jobs and opportunities across the country. Continuing to invest in projects like these will help us build a stronger economy and a fairer society."

The announcement build of a measures announced last month by Transport for London that it would fund step-free access at Seven kings, Maryland, Manor park and Hanwell stations.
