Parliamentary watchdogs have confirmed that a further complaint against under fire MP Simon Danczuk will be investigated. IPSA (the Independent Parliamentary Standard's Authority) will now officially investigate his parking claims. Evidence was unearthed that proved that Mr Danczuk had been charging the taxpayer for his hefty parking fees whilst abroad on holiday. It was part of a hefty £178.50 bill for parking paid for on 1st August 2015.
IPSA said in an email to Rochdale Liberal Democrats: "We have decided to consider this complaint as part of our existing investigation, the outcome of which will be published in a report at the conclusion of the investigation. Thank you for bringing this to our attention."
Mr Danczuk is currently being investigated for 'dodgy' accommodation expense claims. He claimed thousands for four dependent children. This is despite not seeing two of them and the other not routinely living with him in London. This is the latest controversy to involve Mr Danczuk. He is currently suspended from Labour for sending a 'lurid' text to a 17 year old girl who applied for a job in his office. They have also questioned whether parking charges claimed for on April 7th, 2015 (Easter Tuesday) and for May, 4th (May Day Bank Holiday) should be investigated.
Lib Dem Leader in Rochdale, Councillor Andy Kelly, said: "Yet again it appears that Mr Danczuk has serious questions to answer. This time over substantial parking expenses. Let's be quite clear about this: Taxpayer's money should be spent wisely. It is certainly inappropriate to spend it on parking charges whilst sunbathing in your posh apartment in Spain. It doesn't matter if it's £180 or nearly £30,000 - every penny claimed should be investigated and I'm pleased that yet again Parliament is taking this matter so seriously."
