Is the State of Israel acting legally?
Liberal Democrats Muira Wilson questioned whether the State of Israel is complying with the ruling of the International Court of Justice's provisional order stating that the State of Israel must ensure with immediate effect that its forces do not commit any of the acts prohibited by the genocide convention.
Speaking in the House of Commons debate, Munira started by saying "Can I set the record straight for Conservative Members that we on the Liberal Democrat Benches have been calling for months for an immediate bilateral ceasefire, and that we welcome yesterday’s UN Security Council resolution"
UN Security Coucil Resolution 2728 demanded an immediate ceasefire in the Israel–Hamas war during the month of Ramadan leading to a lasting sustainable ceasefire. It also demanded the unconditional release of all hostages.
Munira went on to say that "However, the reality is that northern Gaza is on the brink of famine, with children dying of malnutrition, and tens of thousands of children are being killed or maimed by Israeli forces’ bombardment."
She then asked "Does the Minister believe that Netanyahu’s Government are complying with the International Court of Justice's provisional order, which states that Israel must ensure with immediate effect that its forces do not commit any of the acts prohibited by the genocide convention?"
