Aspinall Steps Forward For East Middleton
Ian Aspinall Selected to stand in East Middleton Ward
We caught up with Ian today on a brief visit to Lib Dem HQ to confirm his candidacy. We learned very quickly that he is a proud Middletonian who lives in Boarshaw with his wife and four children. He has worked in technology sales for over twenty years and prides himself on his ability to communicate with people from all walks of life.
'Working in sales, you learn a lot about how to get your point across' says Ian - 'but, unless you have taken the time to understand what people want - whats the point?' He goes on, 'Too often these days local politicians think they know best based on little or no understanding of the challenges people face every day - is it any wonder people don't trust them?'
Ian is committed to taking the time to understand what residents actually need and being a strong voice for them at the Town Hall. 'People I talk to everyday tell me that Middleton is last on the list of priorities for Rochdale Council - money gets frittered away on pointless schemes in Rochdale while Middleton crumbles around them. We are not the poor relation!'
Professionally Ian is known for for straight talking, warm humour, a level head and for getting things done.
'If you are a dog lover but sick of treading in dog poo, a recycler but fed up with fly tipping, law abiding but frustrated by petty crime, a lover of green spaces but sick of uncouth youths ripping around on off road motorbikes and if you are spending money on unwanted car repairs because of the state of our pot holed roads, then vote for me.' said Ian.
Just before he had to dash off, he added: 'If I am fortunate enough to elected as your local councillor, I promise to represent you whatever your political persuasion. I know how important it is to have someone dependable who can deliver your message in a way that cannot be misunderstood. I will do my utmost to be the representative you need. I will demand your voices are heard and tackle the things that bother you. We have a wonderful community, lets make it even better. Where there is a will there is a way, together we can all win.'
We didn't get chance to ask him about his band. Maybe you can when you meet him?
