Councillor Peter Davison - Fighting to keep the 442 bus service

Residents of Castleton and Council highway officers are to meet with Rossendale transport bosses tonight (Thursday 28 August) to try and bring the 442 bus service back to the area.

The bus was withdrawn earlier this month from the Kirklees/Alder Road area of Castleton due to what the operator described as "traffic problems on the estate".

Councillor Peter Davison, who has been at the forefront of the campaign to have the service restored, commented : "I arranged tonight's meeting to give the residents their opportunity to tell Rossendale why they need the 442. From the number of people who have contacted me it's clearly needed. Council officers will be able to explain their proposals for overcoming any highway obstacles that might prevent this happening."

The meeting is to be held at Castleton Community Centre at 7.00pm.
