Fundraiser in Milnrow for defibrilator

11 May 2016

The sad death of a customer at Milnrow Worker's Club has led to a charity quiz to raise money for a box for the new defibrillator in Milnrow. A special quiz night hosted by local Councillor Andy Kelly aims to raise enough money to put a box outside the club on Dale Street. A customer died of a heart attack earlier this year. The tragic fatality led to the community coming together to campaign for the equipment. The box will mean that the defibrillator will be housed outside the club to benefit the whole community.

Councillor Kelly, who will be hosting the night upstairs at the club on 3rd June at 7.30pm, said: "Nobody knows whether a defibrillator would have saved the life of the customer. It seemed the obvious thing though to get a defibrillator on Dale Street. That way, the community will benefit too as well as customers. I'm delighted the Public Health and Well Being Team at the Council have paid for the defibrillator. Our fundraiser is to pay for a box to house it outside. Training courses on how to use the lifesaving equipment will be announced in due course."

Andy is one of Rochdale's most famous quizzers having appeared on Who Wants to be a Millionaire, Mastermind and Eggheads amongst others. Teams of up to 6 are welcome and it's only a fiver a head with some great prizes. To register your team please contact Andy Kelly on 07947 609277.
