KIRKHOLT CLUB BOWLED OVER BY TWO NEW BENCHES

7 Jun 2012

Bowlers at the Kirkholt bowling club now have extra places where they can sit and watch matches from thanks to two new benches provided by local councillor Dale Mulgrew.

These two benches have been installed in the last few weeks and provide a great vantage point to watch the games from. This also means that spectator facilities at the club have been extended further to provide additional coverage around the playing surface.

This equipment was paid for from a Rochdale Township grant of around £400 donated to the Club by Cllr Dale Mulgrew.

Club Treasurer Tom Barlow said, 'thanks to Dale Mulgrew that we have now been able to install these new benches. This will certainly improve the spectator facilities at the club.'

'We feel we are a very active club in the heart of the Kirkholt community and we are always looking at ways to improve the facilities at the club. '

President of the Club Pete Metcalf added, 'We are very fortunate lots of local Kirkholt residents bowl in the many different teams we organise - from juniors right through to veterans teams. We often get many friends and relatives of the bowlers coming along to watch and support our teams, so these benches are a great addition.'

Kirkholt Cllr Dale Mulgrew also added, 'I am really pleased I was able to support this excellent community club in this small way.'

'The Kirkholt bowling club continually impresses me as it has a great family atmosphere due to the diversity of age groups that are involved. They also have an open door policy which encourages anybody to come along and have a go, so I always try to help in whatever way I can.
