Paul Rowen MP demands answers after controversial health appointment!

29 May 2006

Rochdale MP - Paul Rowen has written to Secretary of State for Health after the controversial appointment of a Health Boss. Businessman John Jesky has been given the permanent role of Chairman of the Pennine Acute Trust. He has been doing the job in a temporary capacity for 6 months, this initial appointment was met with scepticism by North-West MP's.

Paul Rowen MP has reacted angrily and said he will be working with other Greater Manchester MP's to bar Mr Jesky from this position. Paul said, "I have no axe to grind with John Jesky personally but I have doubts in his ability to carry this vital job. This job is of critical importance to health service provision in the area and if there are any doubts then these must be dealt with.

I will be tailing to my Parliamentary Colleagues about this and fully intend to write a letter to the Secretary of State to ask her to urgently review this decision."

Mr Jesky was appointed acting Chairman in March, just 18 days after after his Christmas Hamper firm, FHSC went into administration with a loss of 130 jobs.
