Rochdale Lib Dems take the Greenbelt pledge

RLD
2021 Candidates

Since they were announced in 2016 - Rochdale, Heywood & Middleton Liberal Democrats have challenged and opposed local plans to build on the green belt and in green spaces across our borough.

Our stance has not changed. As local election candidates we will do everything we can to stop the current and future development of green belt and greenfield sites whilst there are brownfield sites - including ex industrial and commercial sites - still available to develop within the borough.

Furthermore, Rochdale Lib Dems are campaigning for a full review of housing strategy once the Census is counted and after the impact of Covid and Brexit is assessed. On Earth Day 2021,we hereby sign the below Rochdale Green Belt pledge.

Tony Hughes (Hopwood Hall), Donna Chadwick (North Heywood), Ian Aspinall (East Middleton), Ben Keane-Lyons (North Middleton), Emma Griffin (South Middleton), Nikki Edwards (West Middleton), Kate Clegg (Littleborough Lakeside), Cllr. Irene Davidson (Milnrow & Newhey), Dean Larder (Smallbridge & Firgrove), Richard Eden-Maughan (Wardle & West Littleborough), Siobhain Cunnane (Bamford), Sarah Kisa-Smith (Castleton), Barrie Nicholson (Central Rochdale), Mark Alcock (Healey), Stephen Thornley (Kingsway), Hassan Ansari (Milkstone & Deeplish), Stephanie Robertson (Norden), Rabina Asghar (Spotland & Falinge)
