Liberal Democrats secure funding for a park youth bus.
Following a multi-agency meeting at Milnrow Health Centre, your Liberal Democrat Councillors have agreeded funding for youth bus provision to come to Milnrow park. Working with the health centre, community safety officers, police and the youth service, a range of measures have been agreed to reduce anti-social behaviour and improve safety measures in the park and the surrounding area.
“We know that the vast majority of young people are decent, well behaved citizens, but there is a small minority causing problems for many people.” said Cllr Irene Davidson, after the meeting. “There is no silver bullet solution here, but we have agreed a programme of work to make the
area safer for everyone to enjoy.
Measures include:
- Weekly youth bus sessions until Easter
- Increased police patrols
- Review and upgrade of CCTV cameras
- Increased Youth Service detached work
- Clearance of building waste on park/health centre site
Further measures are being explored too such as upgrading the youth shelter on the skate park, fencing for the bowling green and security lighting on the pavilion.
The Police and PCSOs have requested that residents always report incidents as they are unable to divert resources unless there is evidence to do so. “The simplest way is to report any incidents via the GMP website, or by calling 101.” concluded Councillor Davidson.
