We need serious action to make our streets safe for pedestrians.

Is this really the best they can do?

Speeding traffic is a problem across West Heywod, but when residents on Bury Old Road complained to the council they acted swiftly, to put one measley sign half way along the street, with no traffic calming measures to back it up. This sign on Bury Old Road is supposed by the Council to slow traffic. Tom Shaw says that “What is needed here is real traffic calming such as chicanes in the road.”

Meanwhile the Labour council are proposing to spend millions of pounds on supposed street improvements in Heywood Town Centre which will force more traffic onto our back streets, increasing traffic and pollution in our community.

Tom Shaw, and the Liberal Democrat Focus Team, are calling on the Labour Council to get its act together and install chicanes along the road.
