Good news for Foxholes Residents.

9 Mar 2006

Central Ward Councillor - Shah Wazir has spoke of his delight after a meeting of concerned residents and parents at All Saints Primary School in Foxeholes, Rochdale. The meeting was about the problems with traffic in the area. Councillor Shah Wazir has been inundated with complaints about speeding, parking, driveways being blocked and the danger of traffic to residents including young children.

A new Traffic Management System was agreed at the meeting between local residents, local Councillors and representatives from All Saints Primary School and St Patrick's RC Primary School. The new plan will be presented to the next meeting of the Rochdale Township on 15.03.06. Highlights of the new safety measures include a one way system in the area and speed humps to restrict speeding. A new speed restriction of 20 MPH will come into force on Greenbank Road and surrounding streets.

Councillor Shah Wazir said, "This is a great example of local councillors working together with the local residents to find solutions to their problems. It is vital in my job to consult with local people and the positive meeting, attended by over 30 people enabled us to work together for the good of Central Rochdale. I would encourage residents in the Foxholes area and parents of All Saints and St Patricks to come to the Township Meeting and make sure the Councillors listen to their views before making a decision. I have no doubt that the Councillors on the Committee will make a positive decision that will mean our area will be much safer"
